If there’s one thing the area around my office lacks, it’s good food trucks. There is one that comes by regularly, but it only offers vegan food. I don’t really associate vegan with “delicious” or “taco” so I’ve never considered it. But last Thursday. to my great surprise and enjoyment, our building was visited by a new food truck.
First there were whispers… “Did you see that the food truck parked outside today? Their food looks delicious!”
Then there was a confirmation…“That taco food truck outside the building is seriously dangerous.”
I knew everything was going to be okay. Up until that point I was having a pretty generic workday, typing away at the computer, constantly checking the time, waiting for the end of the day. The prospect of a unexpected taco immediately lifted my spirits. I raced downstairs and was greeted by the sight of Mike-n-Willie’s.
Mike-n-Willie’s offers a short, focused menus consisting only of tacos and sliders. On the taco side, they offer three choices: Short Rib, Lime Chicken, and Fish. Now, if this was my lunch, I’d probably go with all three. This was only a late afternoon taco snack, so I went with what looked like the best option, Short Rib. For only $3.50, they served a thick beast of a taco (see my picture above). I knew I was in for a treat.
Between the Tortillas:
- Beef Short Ribs
- Sweet BBQ sauce
- Lettuce
- Cotija cheese (my favorite taco topping)
This was one tasty taco. The rib meat was delicious and the BBQ sauce plentiful. The sauce was a little sweeter than I like it, but that did not take away from how good it was.
I hope Mike-n-Willie’s stop by again soon, I’d love to sample their other tacos. If not, I’ll just have to find them via Twitter.
Until next Taco…

[...] I wrote a few weeks ago that the area around my office (Midtown near Columbus Circle) was lacking in quality food trucks. Well it appears that the Food Truck gods have heard my cries, as we have since been blessed with a bounty of food trucks. On any given workday, I can go out and find a truck nearby with choices ranging from Burgers (GO Burger), to Lobster Rolls (Luke’s Lobsters), to Grilled Cheese (Gorilla Cheese), to even Burgers AND Grilled Cheese (Munchie Mobile). I thought I had hit the jackpot when I had Mike-N-Willie’s, but that was before I saw the Korilla BBQ truck parked outside last Wednesday. [...]
